its more lex who wouldnt kill supes i think, like joker wouldnt want a world without bats i think DS woul dkill supes if he could be he wants to do it with his own strenght as he thinks he is more powerful

In the comic the movie was based on Darkseid catches a pretty savage beating from Superman. Superman was under the impression that Darkseid killed Kara so he went a little nuts and brought the fight to the damn sun where a pretty savage beating was handed out. It ended with Superman sticking him to the source wall at the end of space.

didn't superman beat him in a fair fight in the episode "legacy" of the animated seriesalso in "twilight" of the justice league and in "apocalypse" of JLU he unleashed all his power on him? i know darkseid is more or less more powerful but IF superman weren't holding back ALL his power even darkseids strength wouldn't exceed his. then again the movies and shows arent always consistent with the comics!

Darkseid is a being who see himself as god. Using Kryptonite is something anyone could use. It doesn't show his superiority. When he takes Supermans heat vision and pushes back his incredible strength. That is what it is all about.
Supergirl is not at full power due to age and on a better day Superman can fight more. Darkseid wasn't exactly at full strength at the end of that fight. Both could continue though it was going more his way.
Supermans threat was the next time the fight was going to end in death. Whether he can back that up is unknown. The difference in their power isn't so great like DBZ.

Maybe Superman said that because now he has Supergirl with him.

Darkseid is more powerful than Superman (as far as I remember has always been) and of course vain as hell so I also think thats why he does not use it. Thats why it is also pretty stupid how Superman tells him how he better not come back. After almost getting killed by him and only managing to "beat" him by tricking him.

He can kill him with one shot, he beat the hell out of him with a few blows and took everything he got, He keeps supes around because he likes to challenge him morally. He loved seeing supes have to beat up his own cousin, he loved seeing supergirl turn on him and the pain he felt and when darkseid killed the girls only friend. It's never been about physical power he can take over the universe with that anytime, he wants and loves to break sentient being's will, and that is what makes him arrogant and causes him to fail.

I agree that it's because Darkseid is arrogant. I don't think Darkseid really wants to get rid of Superman forever. He likes to beat up on him and show how more powerful he is over everyone. If Darkseid used kryptonite, it would be like admitting he's weaker.

I don't think Superman + Girl could have beaten Darkseid. They were literally getting their beep kicked around.
Were able to get rid of him by something akin to pushing him out of the door rather than fighting him fair and square.

IMO it's because Darkseid is vain. He does not use kryptonite because he feels he is more powerful than Superman, basically, he does not believe he needs it.
