Is Columbia going to be editing and cleaning up the serial because of its supposed harshness to the Japanese? Or will it be the original and faithful serial we know and love?
I really hope they're not going to be politically correct and tarnish this film for the sake of not upsetting anyone. Maybe they'll release both an edited and uncut version

They just used the original film and soundtrack that was on all our old VHS tapes (from before the GoodTimes Home Video release). Only the GoodTimes Home Video tapes from the late 1980's have the audio altered.
I first got this on VHS back in the mid-1980's and enjoyed it very much. Saw the GoodTimes Home Video tapes for sale in the video store in about 1989 and was hoping to get an upgrade in the picture quality. The picture looked better than my old tapes, but I was really dissappointed to find that they altered the soundtrack.
The reason chapter 2 cuts out early on the DVD is because of damage to the film that they used as the source for the DVD. The source for my old mid-1980's VHS tapes was that same film and the end of chapter 2 was there, but you could tell that the film in rough shape. When they showed this on TV on AMC channel in about 1990, it was the original and unaltered audio, but like the DVD the last 10 seconds or so of chapter 2 was cut off.

No, folks, the serial has the dialogue restored! (Compare the DVD to the "sanitized" GoodTimes tapes.) There is more info about this at www.dvddrive-in.com/reviews/a-d/batman43.htm
My only complaint is that, after fixing the dialogue, they cut off the end of Chapter 2 rather abruptly, before we see scenes from the next episode. This material still exists, as it is intact on the old VHS release.

They'll probably edit the racism, but that would suck.
