I am a total idiot when I do this. I will enjoy pretty much any movie I watch on the big screen. Maybe it's nostalgia. Maybe it's the whole ritual and experience of movie-going. Maybe it's the size of the screen making distractions lesser. With bad or mediocre ones, they will often lose the magic when I watch again or have time to think about them.
I think I'll still love the new TMNT, but I knoe thew newer Star Wars movies lost their magic after some times passed.
I wonder how I'd feel watching classic or older favorites I never got to see on the big screen becauseI'vebasicallyseen only popcornfilms in theaters. Just gotta make the trip to Prytania Theater in NOLA one day when they show old stuff.

I know we have bigger screens at home now, but I don't think I've seen even a rich person have a home theater the size of an actual movie theater.

Usually the bigger screen makes every movie look ten times better than it does on television, and the audio tends to sync up better. The Dark Knight is a good example of that.

This happened to me with Dunkirk. In the theater I thought it was great, then when I watched it at home I realized it was just a boring movie about a bunch of cowards retreating from battle.
