I enjoyed reading this thread so much and only makes me love the woman even more. Congrats to all who wrote and received replies. I'm now tinged with jealousy wishing I found this thread a couple of years ago so I could have sent in a photo myself.

Yeah it is coz I wrote her 2 years ago and she ac tually replied me. A friend of my uncle , who works in the sound department in movies, had worked with her in 1999in the movie presence of mind and when she replied me she told me about my uncle I became very emotional.. And then two weeks later I received in my mail a photo dedicated for me. A lady with class. I'll never forget her now that she has died.

Many actors have agents in near Hollywood, regardless of where they live. My guess is that the California address was an ex-agent.

A California address would probably be incorrect, Ms. Bacall has lived in NYC for over fifty years.
I recently got some photos I sent her back signed and it appears her handwriting has changed somewhat since the 1990's when I wrote her last. Of course, there could be many factions such as age and her perhaps signing hundreds or more at the same time. I'm still thrilled to get them.

Shakiness is to be expected at her age, so it's a mark of authenticity, in my opinion.

I just got my photo back today, and what a thrill! Her signature is shaky on mine as wellhoping she's in good health and spirits.

Yes I got it back!!! it wasn't personalized:( but it is wonderful. Her signature is kinda shaky, which is sad, but it is still wonderful.

I've sent a letter, aphoto (I picked a good high quality one on the internet and got it printed on photo paper in a photo store) and a self-addressed stamped envelope to her last month and got it back signed in 2 weeks and a half.

I bought the photo on ebay, cost $11 with shipping. I sent my Designing Woman poster, the 8x10, a letter and a self addressed, stamped envelope to:

About 2-3 months after I had mailed everything it came back, the poster signed and the photo personalized! I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I was, I've even had both framed! Very generous and extraordinarily kind of her!!

Most everyone I've heard success stories from have sent their own items to be signed and included a self addressed, stamped envelope.
I recently purchased a photo of her and Bogart (from Key Largo) and an original Designing Woman one sheet that I'll be sending along with a letter tomorrow.

Do you need to send a return envolope with your letter? I don't have a pic for her to autograph. Does she send her own photo if you request it?

Interesting, I just sent a photo to that address and got it returned and signed within ten days.

that's not it-
I've tried twice, and to another address in CA, and NOTHING. EVER. It was return to sender all three times.
