True. I read Mae West's biography a while back, Mae was actually an interesting, funny
and
intelligent person as well as stunning to look at - and she advocated for women's rights long before feminism was popular. She also supported gay rights which was almost unheard of back then. She did everything from burlesque and vaudeville to movies (she was a sex symbol long before Marilyn) to cheesy rock albums in the final years of her life. You should check out some of her films or performances on youtube.

If she had lived to an old age she would have just become irrelevant and no one would really care about her these days.
