<p dir="auto">i think some directors just get tired… older directors who are still working have A LOT OF HELP and are basically icons like Scorsese and Spielberg who have giant machines behind them, and even then their best work was when they were young…<br />

<p dir="auto">Possibly.  I imagine the luke warm reaction to some of John's later releases could be part of the reason, too.  He doesn't have to work anymore to get paid anyways seeing as he gets a cheque every time somebody wants to remake one of his movies or just use the "Halloween" theme. Nice for him, but, yeah, it would be nice for us to see him return to the director's chair at least one more time.</p>

<p dir="auto">Right.  And it seemed to happen to him at a relatively young age.  That's why I'm asking:  Is it possible that one reason Carpenter became "bored, lazy and tired" was his frequent drug use?</p>
