In a recent GQ interview with his Wolfs costar Brad Pitt, Clooney fired back at Quentin Tarantino — whom he starred alongside in the 1996 film, From Dusk Till Dawn — for trashing almost his entire filmography in an interview last year.
“Quentin said some s— about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him,” he said. “He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about [Pitt], and somebody else, and then this guy goes, ‘Well, what about George?’ He goes, he’s not a movie star.”
Tarantino did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment. However, Clooney appears to be referencing Deadline columnist Baz Bamigboye’s conversation with Tarantino from last July, wherein the filmmaker declared that actors like Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio were certainly movie stars, but that Clooney definitively wasn’t.
“It’s been a long while since I think George Clooney has drawn anybody to an audience,” Tarantino said at the time. “When was the last time that he had a hit in this millennial?”
