Johnny Depp is not a great actor. He's a movie star just like Tom Cruise is a movie star.

depp is a great actor, he just is a major flake and chooses the weirdest movies to star in and this turns off the Oscar committee. at a minimum he deserved it for Ed Wood.
Nicolas cage is also oscar worthy but his movies are even more removed from mainstraem normal

Dude just face it. Johnny Depp doesn't try hard enough to win an Oscar. I don't think that he has it in him.

It's still a dime a dozen performance that's been done hundreds of times before. Creating a memorable character in what was supposed to be a shameless cash grab and actually turning it into something good is much more impressive. The academy is just too far up its own ass and rarely hands out awards to anything that isn't serious enough.

I saw a video today of a toddler getting ran over by an Uber driver right in front of her family. The family members proceeded to grab that Uber driver out of his car and beat the **** out of him.

He's hamming it up. Screaming and good acting are not the same thing.
