Elwes is very good and underrated actor, his performance on Saw is amazing and another good Elwes performance is Casanova from Kiss the girls

You call him a terrible actoryet you've only seen him in one movie.
He's an amazing actor that can pull off a variety of roles.
I recommend checking out Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Princess Bride, and Twister, to name a few

He's great in Saw actually. He's most of the reason that the first Saw is good (the rest suck hard by the way).
Princess Bride of course is a classic. But personally I really like his guest roles in Psych.

Well, he is from England, so I hope he can do a good English accent.
Any way, I5b4 know this is an old post but whatever. I recently just watched all the Saw films. And while I was watching the first movie, I thought this is terrible. The acting is awful. I loved Cary in Princess Bride and Men in Tights, but what happened to him in Saw? But I don't blame him really, I just blame the terrible movie. I've seen other great actors in bad movies and it always seems to make them look bad as well.
I haven't seen many of his films at all, but from what I have seen, his best movie is Princess Bride.

And he was undeniably creepy and effective as Ted Bundy in the tv movie The Riverman. I actually doubt someone else could have beat that. The ressemblance, speech patterns and manierisms are chillingly similar to the real guy if you compare his performance to interviews made with Bundy himself.

I've not seen as many of his performances as I would like, but he is amazing in The Princess Bride and Shadow of the Vampire.

Yeah, that's because the Saw series are horrible films. They are very poorly written and directed. They are meant to appeal to the brainless drone film audience of America, which is why they are so successful.
Even the best of actors will seem bad in a horribly written and directed movie.
He is actually a very great actor. Especially in his comedies.

Agreed. He was just awful and one-dimensional.
On the other hand, if he was aiming for that one dimension to be annoying and unlikeable and simpering, he was brilliant, LOL!
In all seriousness, he was wonderful in "The Princess Bride."

Personally, my favorite role of his was in Glory. His portrayal of Maj. Forbes really touched me.

Ok, like a told somebody else who said the same thing, you may want to watch Elwes in Glory or The Crush. He's great in a lot of films. Stop watching crap like the Saw films and you'll get it.
