The whole white racist redneck shtick is also a total cheap shot because that's basically the only group of people left that you can make fun of without a lot of folks crying foul over it. So yeah the writers on SNL have not only become lazy, they also have become pretty cowardly by only making fun of stuff that they know in advance won't offend a lot of people. I'm glad this skit backfired on them because it means the general public isn't buying into this bullshit anymore.

That **** was simply pathetic. Besides being extremely condescending to the appalling ninth degree to Trump voters, it's also grossly inaccurate in its representation of Trump voters because Trump actually got more black and Latino votes than in his two previous elections. The 2016 skit was funny, though, and rather sweet. It was about Hanks's character finding common ground with the Black contestants. He didn't act scared of them at all.
Being terrified because the show's host approached him to shake hands–while proclaiming he wanted to shake hands–was not funny, or sweet, or anything else.
I loved the original sketch, even the final "punchline." This one was just mean-spirited.

Why would I? His reappearance was a disappointment but it's not worth being angry about. He showed up for about 10 seconds at the very end of a skit I only watched because of him, and that 10 seconds was just a rehash of the least interesting part of his first appearance.

It also goes to show that the Tom Hanks we all fell in love with was not actually a nice guy. If he was willing to do this, he's a cruel and vindictive person and I'll never look at him the same way. It's sad because I always liked him as an actor, but seeing this, I was very disappointed.
