Maybe you didn't know or were incorrectly informed but my father is an epidemiologist with the CDC and I am 1 year away from my own Masters degree in Biologyhaving said that, I have never heard or studied anything that would correlate your statement.
NOTHING, cures herpes as it is a stout virus. There are medications to help control the outbreaks which can be quite painful and embarrassing to many of the infected, but if at ANY point they engage in a sexual encounter with a uninfected partner they risk transmission of the virus that causes the sores to them. Even a condom is not 100% effective as sores on skin or fluid transfer can cause transmission and breakage or groin to groin contact is like shooting the dice.
Don't get me wrongit's not as if sufferers should sit at home and never hope to find a meaningful relationship, but a good person is mindful of all the facts and alerts any potential partners to the risks involved.
I myself dated a wonderful woman for over a year with genital herpes and although we went our separate ways (having nothing to do with the herpes) I had a great time with her and through being careful I did not contract it nor did she have any of the painful outbreaks common before beginning her prescription of Valtrex.
