Sir Anthony Hopkins is undoubtedly one of the finest actors in the world, the man has incredible range, and speaking as an Englishman, I at least have the objectivity to see that rather than allow myself to be eaten up inside and see my judgement clouded by a few unfavourable comments.
For what it's worth, I do see where he's coming from when he speaks about the English. Hopefully he was 2000making a gross generalisation because some English people really do possess a great deal of heart, but generally one of the characteristics of the average Englishperson, especially one from a certain class and standing, is a certain coldness and aloofness, that you don't find so much among the 'Celtic fringe' you disdain, or for that matter, among most other nations, save perhaps for the Germans and Scandinavians (I apologise for my own gross generalisations here).
