Its funny I stumbled on this thread bc I was listening to Howard Stern and Sally Field said TLJ was an ah2000ole to her also. And of course we've all heard the infamous Jim Carrey/TLJ interaction.

I have to wonder about stories like this. Though I don't doubt it's veracity. I've heard too much about Tommy Lee Jones like this.
This sounds like a really stupid thing to do in Texas. You walk into a store at or slightly after closing time, midnight in this case, and start ranting and raving at the clerk and a customer like a lunatic.
Texas is a castle doctrine, stand your ground, no duty to retreat state and a significant number of people and businesses are armed. This sounds like a supremely stupid thing to do there as it's an excellent way to get yourself shot dead. People have been shot for far less than this.
Relying on your celebrity and/or being recognized as a celebrity, is dicey, a big risk at best. You'd have to be pretty fkng arrogant to depend on it to protect your ss.
Imagine the celebrity a person would have for being the man who shot down Tommy Lee Jones? It'd certainly give you your fifteen minutes of fame. At least.

Would you'd be that principled to refuse big paychecks? There are very few people on earth who would. But then again at least King has done quite much for the charity. They make lot of mony because of us (the more we buy their books or watch their movies, the more they earn) so what, that doesn't give people right to harrass them whenever they see some celebrity.

About the story two: many celebrities have said that there are some places and some moments when it's not very good to approach to ask for autograph - one of them was when they're having a dinner in restaurant and the second one was when they shopping.
About not giving an auographs at all: Stephen King doesn't sign autographs. Only at the special book signing. Does that make him a prick? I say - No.
