I'm far from a Stephen King aficionado. In fact, I'm just starting to read probably my sixth book of his. However, in all but one of the stories I read, he has at least one scene taking place in or near a culvert:
The Dead Zone
The Stand
Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
The Body
Apt Pupil
I've never given that much thought to culverts, but maybe I should.

Maybe you should. You never know what's in there until you look. But be careful when you do.
