As one of the most beautiful faces in the history of the world, Brooke had EVERY imaginable opportunity. She has so little talent, that despite epic opportunity, she couldn't succeed in anything acting related. Her broadway work is dreadful, her film acting is cringe worthy, and her tv work is mediocre at best. Her looks are inversely proportionate to her talent. I saw her in a production of a musical in Los Angeles, and her singing voice was so pathetic (she had the leading role) that I don't think she'd make it into a high school chorus. My friend had an extra ticket to see her in the Exorcist (play version) in Los Angeles shortly thereafter, and her performance was like watching a really bad junior high production. This woman is sadly the epitome of a "no-talent"like, if I had a daughter like that, I would say, "honey, try something else. Its just not your thing." There is NOTHING thereno acting or singing ability, no stage presence or energyjust an empty shell attached to a stunning face. I wonder if she knows this deep down, or if she is surrounded by people who falsely praise her. In fact, she is one of the least talented people I have ever seen in a leading role on stage, film, or tv.

Her talent lies in the existential realm. She is not a classical talent, therefore is difficult to define accurately. Bottom line is that she exists, she's famous, and she's rich. Eat your heart out.

However, as Rita Glossner, she's magnificent. I barely recognized her. It may be the first time she's actually acted a role, and nailed it 100%.
I've only just realised now that Rita is Brooke Shields! A bit gobsmacked. She's FANTASTIC!

I'd have agreed with the OP until recently. She was always one of those actors who could only play an idealized version of herself.
However, as Rita Glossner, she's magnificent. I barely recognized her. It may be the first time she's actually acted a role, and nailed it 100%.

The op obviously has a brilliant mind. I mean, hey, he/she watches shows like America's Next Top Model. So, he's/she's obviously an expert on talent.

Doesn't matter
I would say that on a website having to do with the arts, whether someone can do their job or not is relevant.
Brooke Shields is utterly gorgeous, and theatricallyneutral. She's a perfectly nice person who performs no better (or worse) than anyone's average cousin would if they were told they had to support themselves by acting.
She's had 50 years to give a great or even very good performance, and still it eludes her.

….she's about as down to earth and modest as it gets. She has also been shown to have a great sense of humor. Brooke
Shields is one of life's big winners
.
She may not be the best actress in town, but she knew how to gently exploit what was a god given gift to her: stunning looks.
I'd also say she is self-deprecating, has suffered depression, (that was more of a post natal issue I think which Tom Cruise derided her for), but within her own means, she has made things work as best as she could within her means. And above all, she comes across as honest and uninhibited and I bet she knows how to tell a great joke and make it interesting and funny.
Bravo to Brooke and I am so glad that I was young when she was in her prime and graced the silver screen with her warmth and beauty which I believe is inside as well as out.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

She graduated from Princeton with honors with a degree in French.
She suffered from horrible abuse at the hands of her mean, alcoholic mother. Still, Brooke has always said good things about her mother, whom she took care of from the age of around 13 until Teri died, about 33 years later. In addition to her ethereal beauty and her intelligence and poise and grace and kindness, she has peace in her soul and she's about as down to earth and modest as it gets. She has also been shown to have a great sense of humor. Brooke Shields is one of life's big winners.
