Tarantino used to work as a video store assistant before he made it in Hollywood, so I can imagine him being great with cinema staff and others at the customer front of the film business. They probably remind him of himself.

It's sad that she couldn't bring herself to act graciously. It doesn't take that much time or energy. Generally, I try to avoid meeting the people I admire. There's just too much opportunity for them to disappoint you.
I used to work at a Los Angeles theater and we got a good number of celebrity visit. Fortunately most of them weren't rude (at worst they'd be guarded and distant). Some of the nicer celebrity encounters I'd had: Seth Green, Jacqueline Bisset (stunningly gorgeous in person BTW), Sam Rockwell, Rose McGowan and Elizabeth Hurley. I didn't meet him, but Quentin Tarantino was very friendly with the staff and chatted with them for a long while when he came by. So fortunately they're not all bad.

We've all had bad experiences with cold callers. Some are decent, but a lot are insufferable.
I assume she immediately recognised the call was cold, and effectively said ''Cut the crap. What are you trying to sell me?''
I know because I've done cold calling too.
And for the record, it is never acceptable to use profanity against a call recipient, no matter how harsh their words are. I'm amazed your friend wasn't fired on a spot.

I am a college student who does cold calling in a call center as a part time job in California. The calls come up on a computer screen and we talk to the person. A co worker of mine got Sharon Stone and said "hello, is this Sharon" and Sharon said "hi is this Kathy, Amber, Katy, Missy" and the co worker said "what are you doing?" and Sharon replied "I am asking for names like you are" and the co worker called her a bitch and hung up on her and keeps her in the call backs. I thought it was amusing. I think she is a total witch

I'm sorry that you had to experience that, it must be horrible, I don't know why they have to be rude sometimes.

I once was walking down Sunset Blvd. on vacation. A limo pulled up in front of a shop. A guy jumped out, and before he went in the shop, he stopped, smiled a big smile, and waved at me. I thought, "Huh?" and kind of waved back. Then I realized it was Liam Neeson.
I must add that I'm an ordinary middle-aged woman. So it's not like he saw a hot babe - there was no one behind me! Liam Neeson is apparently just a nice guy. A smile instead of a scowl took the same time and left me thinking fondly of him.

I think it's a waste to be kind to celebrities. Kindness should be given to people who don't feel

She has quite a reputation in Beverly Hills eateries, etc. I hope she has someone taste her food before she eats it.

I've been around a lot of celebrities in my life and she was probably the worst. I work in the guest services industry and she chewed me out for not addressing her as "Dr." which was part of her alias. I mean come on lady, you and your fake Mensa membership wish!

I'm sorry you had that bad experience for a couple of bad experiences with stars myself only mine were personal, as I was in contact with them on a personal basis , which made it worse, probably.
I agree with the user who said that "it's better to admire from afar". Because truly, I regret the experiences I've had, for the most part, when it comes to celebrities.

Both of them. In the book "Performance" about Avedon's work,John Lahr describes the photoshoot. Avedon said "she has no interest in anyone else. She's interested in the effect she has on you. When she thinks she sees her reflection in your eyes, and I respond, she's satisfied and changes the subject." Later Stone storms off because she doesn't like the dress and refuses to come back for hours. Great book, by the way.
