MAJOR LEAGUE-Berenger was effortlessly humorous in this, and he was funny in such a natural, easygoing way. His character made me laugh as much as any other actor in the movie AND he was essentially the lead character and played the romance storyline with Rene Russo very well.
SNIPER-Underrated. A very entertaining, beautifully shot, interesting character study with Berenger believable as a veteran sniper. I also liked Billy Zane in this and enjoyed how Berenger and Zane played off each other.
PLATOON-I go with this more on Berenger's incredible Oscar-nominated performance than the film itself because I think this is kind of an overrated movie. But Berenger was awesome and should have won the Oscar for it.

In a 1996 interview, Tom Berenger named Betrayed as his favorite film, shrugging off any media criticism with the retort "It was exactly what it was meant to be".

I have to admit, I haven't seen all of them. The one that is my favorite is probably also the one I first saw him in. Most people probably don't remember it: If Tomorrow Comes. It was based on a Sidney Sheldon book and this movie actually did credit to the book. I loved both and I thought he was great in it. He and Madelyn Smith Osborne had great chemistry in it and I loved the movie. I actually wore out my videotape from watching it. Not his mos2000t known role, but it will always be my favorite.
Chandler: He had sex with Mr. Garibaldi!
Monica: Who's Mr. Garibaldi?
Chandler: Does it matter?!

Yes, Tom did look good in Sliver, but I didn't like the movie very much. Chasers is a bit stupid but entertaining and damn Tom looks fantastic in that uniform. And that attitude rowr! I love him in that. Major League is also very good.

I would have to say that "Someone To Watch Over Me" really caught my attention. I first saw it on network television when I was a young girl. I remember watching it with my Mom and my Grandma, and in the scene where Lorraine Bracco hits Tom, after finding out he cheated, both my Mom and my Grandma went "No!" I said: "He cheated on his wife-doesn't he deserve to be hit?" They said that they just didn't want her to damage his beautiful face. Who can argue with that?

I browsed back the board and didn't find the best movies thread, I wonder where it has vanished. Oh nevermind, here it is again.
So you liked Tom in Nightmares and Dreamscapes? I haven't seen that yet, gotta wait for a while longer I'm afraid. Do try and find Betrayed, it is a brilliant movie. I watch all the Costa-Gavras movies anyway, he is a magnificent director who always takes up a hot topic and makes people take notice.
Here's one nice review of Nightmares and Dreamscapes: Road Virus Heads North
http://www.ugo.com/channels/filmtv/features/nightmaresanddreamscapes/roadvirus.asp
The pics of Tom are nice, I think
Tom Berenger does his best to show again why he shouldn't be discarded from the cream of the crop of his generation.
Remember when Berenger was everywhere in the late '80s? Platoon, Someone to Watch Over Me, Major League - he was an A-list star, but in the last 10 years or so has sunk to some pretty awful straight-to-video work next to the occasional TV appearance. Berenger does the best he can with "The Road Virus Heads North," being forced by writer Peter Filardi and director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan to respond to almost nothing more than a haunted painting that won't disappear.
And yet, the first act of "Road Virus," where Berenger's character learns he may have a fatal disease, illustrates why Berenger should be one of those actors that who gets the 16d0kind of comeback he deserves.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing

That has been discussed some time ago (ahem, a long time ago, it seems
but a bit of repetition here doesn't harm anybody.
My favorite Tom movies:

Betrayed
: Tom does a perfect role as the dual-faced Gary. He's a loving family man, very relaxed and a wonderful man to those who he sees as friends, but he has a sinister side Debra Winger also does a very good role here. I never get tired of this movie.

Platoon
: sgt Barnes, the perfect product of war. Need I say more?

Sniper
: a very good story and Tom in camouflage

Shoot to Kill
: a good, thrilling story, Tom and Sidney Poitier form an unforgettable team.

Last of The Dogmen
: a very beautiful story, also romantic, Tom in his cowboy mood looks very good indeed.
Also The Substitute, Major League, Someone To Watch Over Me and many many others are very good movies. I also LOVE the way Tom looks in Chasers! That may not be an unforgettable movie, but damn is he handsome in that white uniform
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing
