His IMDb bio calls him "a giant of a man," yet he is 5'9" tall. Now, doesn't that qualify him instead to be called, say, "a giant of a rabbit" or "a colossus amongst gerbils?" But surely not a man, unless, of course, the bio was written by an African Pygmy.

When Brian portrayed Long John Silver in Disney's Return to Treasure Island (1985) the Disney Channel program guide article on the series described him as a "rock-solid six-footer".
I've always figured this about right for Brian - especially after seei2000ng Flash Gordon, and seeing him around Tim Dalton (6'2"), and Sam Jones (6'3").
But, the man's presence surely makes him seem a lot larger than his height. His voice is definitely 10' tall !

Good Lord, you think this phrase only refers to his height??? From his booming voice, to his robust frame, to his penchant for doing battle with Mount Everest multiple times, to the breadth of his repertory, Brian is HUGE in everything he does.
I'm taller than he is, but I guarantee that if I ever get the pleasure of meeting him I will have to look up.

Larry-115, I plan on using "a colossus amongst gerbils" a LOT in the near future. Please use the royalty checks for good, not evil.

Blessed projects himself very impressively & gives the impression of a giant, but 5'9 is about right. In Blackadder he was much shorter than Rowan Atkinson, who is 6 ft.

I was going to make a topic about this just now. He was just on TV and he gives the impression of being easily 6'3 so I was shockd to read he is an inch shorter than me. I don't know if 5'9 is true, it seems to be far too short for how he comes across.
