At Philadelphia Airport a few years ago. Me and my wife were waiting on luggage when I saw my bag coming and I pushed into the crowd to get to my stuff there were about 30 people standing around and as I grabbed my bag and looked up I was looking into her eyes. It took a few seconds to register who she was.
I said " Hi, how are you doing?" without missing a beat and we talked for a good 10 mins during this time she sent one of the guys following her around on an arrand for a soda and he took off fast. She signed a few autographs for friends of my wife. We said goodbye and that was that. She is very small, I was thinking she was taller. The whole time we were talking alot of people walked by and said things noticing it was her but no one stopped to talk like we did. Didnt seem like she was in a hurry either she was just collecting her bags and probab1c84ly headed to a Hotel for the night.
Either way I seen her in person and can say that she is a class act forsure. A Pleasent Person and Very Apporachable.

Well, she is from Texas, a place where A Lady never has to open a door for herself.

I believe both of these accounts. Nice enough to be cordial to fans/strangers, but also being in the company of a man that opens her door and carries her luggage.

Staying with the airport theme; I saw her at JFK in the late eighties. She was stunningly beautiful, glided through the departures, with a guy carrying Her luggage, trailing behind.
What makes me smile now, is that at the time some doors were automatic and some manual. Didn't make a difference to Miss Fairchild, by the time She reached a manual door it was always opened for Her by one man or another. I watched the whole scene from outside the upstairs bar, and it is no exageration to compare Her to royalty. The crowds just parted for Her, it wouldn't have looked out of place if people had kow-towed as She passed.

I've heard a lot of stories about her being nice and approachable.

Funny16d0- I also saw her at an airport a few years back, and I agree- the 5'4" that her bio says is exaggerated by 4-6". She is TINY. She rode up in one of the golf carts that they transport people around in, and her and her companion (no idea who he was) got out and boarded. They say the camera "adds 10 pounds"- they don't mention that it must also add 6".

It's rare to meet a celebrity that isn't stand-offish or downright rude. She is indeed a lady.
