<p dir="auto">He was a truly wonderful actor, yet for a guy who is knkwn for a huge range, it's odd that there is a definite 'John Hurt' voice.<br />
Like Sean Connery in all his movies.<br />
Not insulting the guy, just unusual I think.</p>

<p dir="auto">Younger actors like Gary Oldman, Daniel Day Lewis and Johnny Depp were afforded the opportunity to play vastly different roles, but "versatility" wasn't a thing back when Hurt started to happen in movies. You had your screen persona and that was that (think Bogey, Stewart, Monroe). Hurt did very well within his given parameters: to compare him to Sean Connery is a joke.</p>
