<p dir="auto">I don't feel qualified to judge whether or not Diane Keaton deserves an AFI tribute, but I strongly believe that the only reason she is receiving the award is because Robert Redford, Gene Hackman, and Robert Duvall turned them down again.  Possibly also Francis Ford Coppola and Woody Allen.<br />
Now, with Woody Allen, it's possible that the AFI governing board did not offer it to him because of some personal scandals from the 1990s.  Others whom the AFI is probably snubbing:  Olivia de Havilland, Jerry Lewis, and Stanley Donen.</p>
