In Miami Blues JJL was 26 when they'd filmed the movie, about 28 when it was released to theaters. Leigh looked at least 18 playing a character who was about that age. She was stuck in teen roles for nearly a decade until the nineties that I think was hard to transfer into more mature roles because of her youthful appearance. Even some of her male co-lead were much younger, like Jason Patric was surprising four years younger during Rush and Jude Law was decade younger while filming eXistenZ. Even a little after her prime years she retain a much younger look than irl age. This photo for Film Comment magazine was taken the year she turned 40, looks at least 30.
