Ralph Macchio was the guest programmer on TCM tonight.
Rebel Without a Cause
(1955), which prominently featured Sal Mineo in a supporting role, was one of Macchio's movie picks. TCM host John Karger mentioned to Ralph the strong resemblance between Mineo and Macchio. They both had a little laugh out of that.

I don't think it's just the coloring. They have similar facial features as well. At least when Ralph wa in the Karate Kid. Similar lip shape, eye shape, face shape. Ralph definitely looks a lot like him.

Ralph (rumour to had gotten some work done,plas.surgery etc.)but until he say it, i don't believe it,even if he did who cares. Ralph Macchio till great looking in his 50s,god bless him.

Oh, there's a comparison to be made, especially the older Sal got. I was watching a 1975 interview on Youtube recently in which several actors Hopper, Wood, Mineo were discussing working James Dean.
And all I kept thinking was that Sal kept making me think of Ralph Macchio.

I saw the birthday notice too and was convinced that somehow IMDB had uploaded a picture of Ralph Macchio by mistake! I thought maybe Ralph played Sal in some biopic and that was the screw up, but I guess not!

Seen the picture on the5b4 front page under birthdays, saw two dates, first reaction was that Ralph Macchio died, then I noticed what the dates were.

I was just about to make this a new thread "Rebel without a Cause was on the other night and I couldn't help but be reminded of how much Ralph Macchio looks like Sal Mineo did. Ralph Macchio could play Sal Mineo in a movie about Sal or someone that he knew.
