If they asked him to? I don't know but it would be appropriate.

Rickstyx, I completely agree with you! That's what I told my brother an avid Star Wars and Arrested Development fan when I saw a clip of Oz in the special features section of "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas".
Although I think Marshall would do a great job, Oz should be the first choice. While we don't know if he was even offered, and it might be an emotionally-straining task, he had a professional and personal relationship with Henson knowledge any biopic director would be very fortunate to possess.
Besides, we must remember that his initial shock has worn off, and now he can channel those emotions into a project which might grant him some closure.

My vote would be for David Cross to play Frank, especially his resemblance in Arrested Development. It's uncanny.

avilos,
I saw a clip on YouTube of Frank talking at Jim's funeral and he got so emotional towards the end of his speech that I understand what you mean now. He probably shouldn't do it, but someone with a good eye for that sort of thing should.
But what he SHOULD be is a character in the movie, and I wonder who could play him?

Frank Oz may feel to close to the material. Imagine making a movie about a close friend who has died? It would be incredibly emotionally hard.

Well, that's all wrong. Frank Oz should have been the first person they went to on the following grounds:

He has directed several charming Hollywood comedies with real heart to them and could thus bring that same (much needed) feel to a biography of Jim Henson

He was Henson's second-in-command and therefore knew him and his world like the back of his hand.
Penny Marshall? She hasn't done anything really major since a League of Their Own.

I believe Penny Marshal is already set to direct.
This post is one step closer to me never having sex again
