It boggles my mind why someone with looks and standout charisma would choose to shy away from heading knee-deep into a business so few people have the opportunity to experience or work in.
When I was reading through Jason's bio here on IMDB (because I just finihsed watching NARC and if you can finish that movie without feeling compelled to discuss it, then you probably aren't human) and his quotes are really odd.
Now, I didn't like Speed 2 for the same reason Patric didn't like itbut more so because Keanu wasn't in it and it's hard to buy the continuity of a sequel when the so-called eye-candy becomes top-billing and a relatively unknown actor fills the shoes of the "main hero".
However, my views on Jason Patric changed after watching the movie Incognito, which was a really rare and beautifully shot crime-caper adventure flick. It was in this movie that he seemed to shine as a leading man (despite the fact that he was also the leading man in The Lost Boys).
My mind was further boggled to learn that he hated working on Incognito as much as Speed 2 and Sleepersit's just boggling. I mean, he practically sleep-walked through Speed 2, and I don't blame him"Cruise Control" was about as cheesy as a subtitle as you can get and reeked of Hollywood cashing in on the original's success. However, Incognito was a completely different kind of film, and it was kind of schlocky in a feel-good, mysterious kind of way. Sort of like how Marlboro Man and Harley Davidson is kind of goofy in a buddy-up action movie kind of way (and it still boggles my mind how Rourke hated working on that movie even though it's now a cult classic).
Anyway, just seemed weird that Jason makes such odd career choices that "speak to him" yet dislikes the stuff that in some ways, spoke to fans. Kind of makes you question why some actors even bother leaving the stage to head to Hollywood in the first place.
