is leading to further American ethical decline and a growing, gaping, black hole of social ennui. Corporate America has deadened our minds, emptied our pockets and sullied our global consciousness. Artists (not corporate lackeys) are the guardians of our Humanity. And they are dying from neglect, marginalization and heartbreak. Without true artists, (not corporate manufactured media darlings) humankind will, no HAS, regressed to its animal-naturemindless, violent, pursuit of territory, dominance, and resource (wealth). If MONEY is God, then Consumerism is the Religion and America is the brain-damaged Prophet.

As JR Ewing put it, "once you lose your integrity, the rest is easy." Sayles is richer than the others because he still has his integrity. You can be rich without money.

As he has been making personal movies and combined this with writing popcorn films for about 30 years, I doubt there is a lack of support for him.
Its that man again!!

I don't know. Sayles seems to do rather well vis a vis support for his work. His films don't require extra large budgets so he seems satisfied on making them on his own dime, while making a killing as a script doctor. More importantly, studios who are out for a bit of class fall over themselves to distribute his stuff. They know that a Sayles film won't rake in the cash, but the prestige factor is important. I really don't think he's complaining.
Are things perfect? Of course not. But I don't think he's quite the suffering, neglected ARISTE you make him out to be.
