After all Ive read here I am jiggered about that many people seems to dont like JS.
Ive always thought that he was publicly loved and that the most people in US miss him on TV but after what Ive read here it seems like the most people cant stand him I dont understand why.
Seems like a lot of haters out there thinks that Larry David was the REAL creator of the show and that Seinfeld just had the big luck.
I think that is ridiculous!
Cmon, the show went better and better and was just as good as before when Larry David left the show.
Its exactly the same as John Lennon - Paul McCartney.
Most people think that Lennon did all the real good stuff in the Beatles. Its not true. If you listen to all the Beatles album you will figure that Paul did at least as good songs as John maybe even better if you asking me.
So what I cant understand is why everyone think hes just useless and nasty and got no tal2000ent?
I know he said some words about the woman who claimd that his wife did copy that cookbook. That was not so bad. Thats the way he is. And you got to understand that hes taking his wifes side.
The Larry King-thing was just a joke. Maybe not a funny joke but still. of course he wasnt angry at King, why should he?
Hes the best stand-up comedian ever. One of the few stand-up comedian worth the name comedian and his work in Seinfeld is a heritage to the world, its more than a sitcom. I think it is a real masterpiece.
This man is genius with or without Larry David!

I did not call him a horrible human being, you must learn to read.
God, how tedious. Excuse me, Pleasant Polly. Why did you call him "a sorry excuse for a human being"?
You can not even compare him to people like Prior, Foxworthy, Carlin, Murphy, Kinison, Williams, Bruce, Martin, Dangerfield the list goes on;he does not even make the top ten and that is not an opinion.
No, not an opinion at all. (Rolls eyes) I love how you throw Jeff f_ucking Foxworthy in there. Ha, ha. Guy's a hack. You, my friend, might just be a redneck.
And yes he did vanish. He tried to make another show which was a complete failure and the only time I ever hear about him is when he is defending his wife for plagiarizing and backing out of charity commitments for political ideology.
Well, clearly you have a chip on your shoulder and an inability to look at this rationally. He's still a top stand up comedian. He's worth nearly a billion dollars and doesn't hafta do anything, but he still tours. He retired for a while after his sitcom. His recent show failed, sure, but that certainly doesn't qualify as "vanishing".
And he's right about Trump and free to cancel any appearance he chooses. And for the record the lawsuit against his wife was thrown out of court.

I never found his stand up funny and he is not one of the most succesful stand up comedians ever, that is just your opinion. There are many comedians who have been far more successful, for example Jeff Foxworthy has remained on top for decades where as Seinfeld became popular and vanished into obscurity all within the 90's.
Him not being "one of the most successful comedians ever", is just as much simple opinion as saying he is.
And how did he vanish and what makes him a horrible human being, exactly?

Not all of us find him funny. I never got into his show because I thought it was not different from all the other sitcoms throughout the years. There are many comedians who have been far more successful, for example Jeff Foxworthy has remained on top for decades where as Seinfeld became popular and vanished into obscurity all within the 90's.
Oh and BTW plagiarism IS A BIG DEAL. If someone had stolen his jokes like his wife stole recipes he would have gone ballistic, proving he has no integrity.
So there you go, I never found him funny, his show was boring and he is a sorry excuse for a human being. Do you need any other reasons?

In college, I'm the only guy out of 30 in my English 1C class that raised my hand when my professor said "raise your hand if you watch Seinfeld".
The problem is that people, especially younger generations, don't pay any detail to the context of the jokes or care about why a Seinfeld event would be funny.
Some people are only susceptible to jokes that makes sense because it is obvious what is implied.
When I was a kid, I was always scanning for simple jokes from Friends. I also had the chance to watch Seinfeld, but I was too stupid to understand why the laugh track was being played every time I missed an amazing joke.
Trust me. I am right.

Jerry gave us a lot of the "what's the deal" and "Did you ever notice," that became a style comedians emulated. But the quotes you posted are actually from a Saturday Night Live episode Jerry hosted in 1992
I am well aware that the lines were used in Saturday Night Live and have seen the episode in question multiple times. But just because the lines were used there does not mean that that is where they originated. I refer back to my previous post where I provided links to multiple articles that site Seinfeld himself as the progenitor of those lines.

Yes! I've noticed that too! It's really annoying me.
It's more along the lines of having to control the urge to crack himself up. It's very annoying, especially since it seems to be self-generated. It looks to be confined to his own responses rather than a reaction to other cast members' delivery.

I love the Seinfeld show even if it's pretty old. I just like the situations and how the cast responds to them - it feels so natural (Jason Alexander is the best part of Seinfeld to me).
Also at the guy above me - I'll give you about 170 examples - he does that in virtually every episode. Especially the ones in which he's arguing with people. I've noticed other actors there do it too (except J. Alexander - he never betrayed his character :)) )
As to the OP - I really like Seinfeld, but I can see what people don't like about him (and about comedians in general) - he makes fun of things that seem so normal, so unimportant to some people that they don't understand what's funny about them.
But I do like his style

Man, you're seriously dense. Watch ANY seinfe1908ld episode, you'll see this guy with a stupid grin in every situation that is meant to be serious (at least to the characters in the show). He can't act and he knows it, that's why it was mentioned in the actual show during the pilot episode. By admitting it in his own show, it makes criticism from the outside less severe.
The only reason the show is cool is because Kramer and George are hilarious. They own, but Jerry stinks. I'm just done watching all 9 seasons (took me a couple of weeks), and as the show progressed I found myself skipping more and more scenes of Jerry without Kramer or George in it.
I would say he plays himself perfectly. You see his old interviews or stand up routines and he seems just like that in real life. Of course there is really no way of telling what he is like off camera but you can say that about everybody. He's changed and gotten a kind of more grumpy with age as I have seen him get kind of mad more recently but I guess that's expected with age.
And you seem a little butthurt. Yes he is definitely not as good as Kramer or George but he character is funny and interesting in his own ways.
As for him "always smiling is serious situation" they made fun of the the fact in an episode about he can't seem to get mad. I mean why else would he tolerate a person like Kramer.

I like Seinfeld as a show, but I think Jerry is merely the glue that sticks all of the other (and in my opinion, more interesting) characters together. In that sense he is vital to how the show works. The only real issue I have with Jerry Seinfeld is that throughout all seasons of the show you get the impression that he is laughing at his own jokes. He has a constant smile on his face, even when he is shouting or his character is supposed to be in a fit of rage!

This is a delayed response, but anywayAlthough I think "Seinfeld" is one of the top sitcoms of all time, and I saw Jerry live and he gave a really great hilarious performance, I agree that Jerry's current demeanor is pretty douchey, like he's the ultimate arbiter of what's funny and who's as deserving as he to be a celebrity.
But to Timbob82 - Jerry gave us a lot of the "what's the deal" and "Did you ever notice," that became a style comedians emulated. But the quotes you posted are actually from a Saturday Night Live episode Jerry hosted in 1992(?). The skit was a Jeopardy-type show making fun of Jerry's style, with Jerry as host and 3 stand-up comedian contestants played by Dana Carvey, Rob Schneider, and Adam Sandler. The joke was all of them doing lame/funny Seinfeld impressions. So for instance, the category was Oprah, and one contestant buzzed in and said the quote you cited - "What's the deal with Oprah - she's fat she's thin, pick a weight a go with it!"
Another quote, "Who are the advertising wizards who thought of that one?" was the only line Adam Sandler's guy could ever come up with.

@Tony_Plush I was just about to say that, and then I saw your comment on the next page. What a fail people are arguing about his comedy yet none of them actually watched the show. Saying "Seinfeld" is formulaic, or that his comedy is stupid is just annoying. Get your facts 238straight and actually watch the show before you make incorrect claims.

First you said he never said jokes like that, but now "not all of his jokes are like that"? You got owned by facts, just give it up already.
