Sorry about your experience.
You have to understand though, for us, it's a movie experience that we hold dear to our hearts because of whatever reason, whether it's because it resonated with us for some reason, or because we were kids at the time we saw it and the movie was larger-than-life to us.
To her, it was a moment of many moments in her professional career. And even though she might have had some fun making the movie, it was like a job to her. And we might say, well it was a great job to be able to have, and that's true, but when you've been in acting all your life, those experiences still can get boiled down into just another day at the office.
Except for her, these few days at the office is sometimes all anyone ever remembers her for.
She's been acting for decades since then, but then people come up to her and still want to call her Lorraine, or act like Back To The Future was the only movie she ever did. It can grow old pretty fast.
Take a look at what Leonard Nimoy went through. He hated being remembered as Spock for a long, long time. He even wrote a book, "I Am Not Spock", trying to sort it out. It wasn't until much later, in his later years, that he came to grips with it and was able to accept it for what it was, and then wrote the subsequent book, "I Am Spock" after he had come to terms with it.
More than anything, I just wouldn't take it personally. You got to meet her, and got to at least speak to her, and that's about all you can hope for. It's not like she was going to become a best friend from a chance meeting at a convention or event. Just try to see it from her point of view and don't sweat it.
It wasn't about you or because of a failing of yours.
I paid for a professional photoshoot with her that the convention organisers offer and she remembered me from when I got her autograph earlier. She squeeled in excitement and welcomed me with open arms. In the picture that was taken she is hugging me

to the OP:
What did you expect? Of course, she's may not be the "down to earth, friendly person" you admire on screen. However, what should SHE expect by being at a public event? I agree she should had acknowledged you; you met at her at an event, not the 7-11. Actors don't necessarily have the same appreication for us as we do for them. It depends on the actor.
These stars want it both ways sometimes.

It gets a little tiring for so many people to say "oh, she was nice to me, it can't be possible she wasn't to you." My only conclusion coming out of everything written here is she seems to prone to major mood swings. See the difference here? I'm not trying to say anyone's full of crap, and none of the rest of you are in any better position to take a meeting as the be-all end-all of a person's character.
Also what is this "bad day" crap? A bad day might mean you don't deal with people, but from what some people have said it's gone far beyond that. And for any normal person, taking out your bad day on others isn't something to be defended, it's cause to say "get off it."

Hey, ryderdvs, I believe that I may have been standing next to you when you had that photo signed at the Hollywood Show (was it April, 2009?). I recall a photo of the DeLorean Time Machine, and it was an excellent replica. And yes, Lea was exceptionally cordial and nice and friendly.
Frankly, I'm puzzled by the posters who have found Lea rude. I have met Lea on several occasions and I must say that I have never met anyone nicer. Not just the nicest celebrity, but the nicest person overall.
Lea is a true gem, very family oriented, and she has a warm personality and a great sense of humor. And very generous in her charitable and philanthropic work. And if you read articles and interviews with Lea's co-stars, there is a constant theme. Lea gets along with everyone, Lea serves as a peacemaker and intermediary on the set, and in the final analysis, everyone truly seems to enjoy working with Lea. Farrah Fawcett, Kiefer Sutherland, Amy Pietz, et. al., always described Lea in glowing terms.
It is diffda0icult to argue with the "perceptions" of other people. Some little thing may have struck someone as rude, and I cannot comment on situations where a person might say "you had to be there." But I can only say that I have never seen any rude behavior by Lea, and quite honestly, it is hard for me to even imagine it. Perhaps a misunderstanding? But it is worth repeating Warren Littlefield's comment about Lea:
"Men love her. Women love her. My kids love her. Who's left?"

I met her at the Hollywood Show in Burbank in 2009, and she was very sweet. She signed my photo of my DeLorean Time Machine Replica, and even commented to Christopher Lloyd as to how accurate it looked. She didn't have to do that.
Anyway, she was very nice.

Yes she is really rude. I was dancing for a film shes in ('The Cabin') which is being filmed in Dublin. Shes staring with Steven Brand and the difference between how they act towards those around them is completely different! He was messing about all day, making all the extras laugh, and took the time to ask me and my uncle about our dancing and seemed really interested. Lea on the other hand acted like my uncle, who had taught her the steps, wasn't there and like she knew everything. Must say though, her shoes were amazing.

celebrities are normal folk they have their good days and bad. some are aswome incarnate others are just down right rude.. and some find the line between both..
im gonna get to meet lea here in 2 weeks at a convention here in my city and shes the only signature i want for my collection i hope shes nice.
but onto the actual topic.
i've met a lot of celebrities over the years at conventions and on film shoots some even hung out with my friends and i after conventions or film shoots. it all depends on the celebrity.

claudia black (far scape & stargate) gave me a luke warm reception when i got her signature.. her agent took my money claudia looked up at me said hi signed my autuograph and said no personalization sorry and pushed my photo down to her agent so she could hand it to me and she went on to the next person i'm like "thanks for.. umnn yea nevermind"
2)micheal bien (aliens, navy seals)when i met him he answered all my questions on his take on playing hicks with an all star cast and playing in navy seals and 20 mins later when i got lance henrickson's autogrpah lance was talking to me for a bit and he made a comment abo1354ut micheal "look at him when i met him he was nothing but a scrawny boy about your age.." and micheal stopped signing some guys autograph looked over and got up walked over and joked back will you stop telling stories their lies i tell you don't listen to him all i could do was laugh as these 2 great actors just went back and forth for a few mins to me that was a great experiance!! but my 2 other friends went over to meet micheal and he didn't answer their questions let alone acknowledge the hard work my buddy and his girlfriend put in to their as close to actual film ready replica as it can get kyle reece and sarah conner outfits.. he was just oblivious to it and didn't even answer any of their questions my other friend after them got even less of a responce other then hi thank you for being a fan heres your autograph on your colonial marine chest plate.. not even a wow thats cool where does something like that come from.. that so many other celebrities ask to make a small talk for a few mins with fans

People are different. i'm not gonna sit here like a self-righteous nut and curse everybody speaking bad about a celeb that others have no problem wit. i'll say tho, because everyone's different, some things people interpret as 1354insults. a light smerk on the face, a quiet grunt, whatever. So HOWEVER Lea treats different people, those people are most likely easily offended.
Now YOU may praise her as an angel, but another might praise her as a devil. their experience of a person differs from your view on life. So its safe to say, Lea is naturally nice to certain people, while opposite to others. Lea might not treat a friend the same way she would a stranger or a fan. But its not like she's the hardcore egomaniac of a star their exaggerated to be, all mean, smokes cigarettes, wears shades, only hangs out with important people, etc but she is human. She might not like a certain person she meets, whereas her showing likeness to those she does see favor in.
Bottom line, both sides seen what they see of Lea, whether good or bad. point is, they've seen it. you can argue against it, but at the end of the day, its still only your opinion.
Monkey B is not a personMonkey is a soul, that LIVES, in many bodies.

It is very true. I sat next to her on the plane this past weekend. We had a great four hour conversation. I knew who she was the second she sat down. I did not make a fuss or anything. She engaged me in conversation and we talked for a good two hours before she even officially introduced herself. She was very friendly, down to earth and one of the best conversationalists I have had on an airplane. (I fly every week, I should know) We talked about this site and this thread in particular so I am checking it out and adding my contribution. We actually met again the following Sunday going back to LA. She introduced me to her sister and remembered what we spoke about. I cannot say enough nice things about Lea and I will defend her on this site. Those who feel snubbed by her, probably have her in this fantasy realm where you feel she is just going to love you because you are such a fan. You probably gave off a strange vibe. Not every person is very appealing to everyone. Get off your stalker vibe and don't take things personal. Not every encounter in life is going to be positive. Just go with the flow and don't let it get to you. That's what I did and Lea and I had a really good talk. And since she does read this thread a lot just give her a break. She is a hard working person just like us. Sure she is not pulling in 30 million a picture, but hardly anyone in Hollywood is. She is a working actress and her family all work in the industry too. She does not live to excess like most in Hollywood. She was not demanding on the flight or feeling snubbed because people didn't wait on her hand and foot. She was just a decent person going to a convention to make fans happy for charity. She went out of her way to help others and sat in a middle seat in coach to do it.
