Sometimes he just seems like a horrible actor to the point it's laughable. But then other times it's pure charisma, or so I think. The guy is one of a kind and I just can't figure out whether he is one of a kind or just really lucky.
Anyway, what do you think?

In terms of acting I think he is terrible. Same charab68cter in every single role ive seen. But I think he makes it work somehow. Just his tone is so odd to me he sounds like he is trying to be funny and it doesnt work on me.

If what you say is true about Walken playing similar characters, then so does Al Pacino, Robert Deniro, Joe Pesci, etc. Robin Williams? Are you being serious?

Can't you respect that I have a different opinion than you and always have had?
You are being overly aggressive and sarcastic without giving a single argument. How would you have responded to this is he hadn't passed away?
My point is, the Robin Williams has not only played comedic roles convincingly but also every sort of character I can think of. From my point of view his range was incredible and that is what in my opninion made him an amazing actor and the reason why I brought him up here as an example is that I think Christopher Walken always plays extremely similar characters.
I am however done with this discussion, as I don't think that bashing other people's opinions without a proper argumentation is what this forum was about.

Nobody in the history of imdb has ever compared Robin William's acting ability to that of either Tom Hanks or Al Pacino. But of course, now that Robin is gone, people throw him into everything:
"I love this tv show! You know who used to be on TV? Robin Williams."
"I love this sandwich! You know who used to make good sandwiches? Robin Williams."
"Frank Sinatra is the best singer to ever grace the planet! You know who else could sing? Robin Williams."
111c
Robin was an amazing person and a great comedian. But he was no Al Pacino of the acting world. I do enjoy many of Robin's movies.

I considered Robin Williams the most versatile actor for years. This hasn't changed because of his passing and I have to admit that I resent your comment a little.
I cannot think of any actor who taken on such a huge variety of roles (Maybe with the exeption of Tom Hanks) and always convincingly.
Yes, his specialty was comedy but he was just as convincing as a villain or in any other serious role. The variety of his work is incredible. That is my personal definition of a 2000great actor, that he can literally do anything. That is my personal opinion.
As to Christopher Walken: He is great at what he does, but it is always the time type of character (at least to a certain point).

Robin Williams was not a brilliant actor. Before his death, you would never have included him in a post amongst people like Tom Hanks, etc. Robin was a brilliant
comedian
, but that's that. People always keep bringing Robin up in places he has no business being just because he has passed on.

I think he is great at what he does, but he is not as versatile as really brilliant actors such as Tom Hanks, Al Pacino, Daniel Day Lewis or Robin Williams (RIP)

A valid observation, to be sure.
I wonder that myself. But I guess it's all irrelevant, to me - I just LOVE watching him on screen! No matter what it is - I'll watch him if he's there. Like a moth to a flame!

The interesting thing about him is even though he acts about the same in a lot, if not all, of his movies he seems to always be on the border of, for a lack of a better way to say it, brilliant and terrible. Give him a good script and he'll be the right man for the job to the point where you may even forget about his humorous delivery. Give him a script that's awful and he'll make it enjoyable and worth watching at least once just for his scenes. He has a style that many can mimic for laughs but there is only one true Christopher Walken.
