Ameche started off in life as an outgoing and fun person, but then became more distant and conservative after he married and as time went on. His religious beliefs became more important than his wife and children which resulted in him becoming estranged from them and a lot colder and more aloof. Eventually he made up with his children, but he was a bit self-righteous. He also admitted to having affairs during his marriage but shrugged it off as if it were no big deal and that he was beyond reproach.
