Has he dropped any hints as to what his next project will be? I've very curious as to what he'll do after Inherent Vice.

Punch Drunk-Love is probably his tightest film, narratively-speaking, and it's his own story. I think he's a tremendously gifted writer, so I hope he films another original screenplay next.

I'd like to see him adapt another book if he can. When he writes his own stories I think he wanders around a little too much. I thought Inherent Vice was his first truly brilliant movie, because it combined his directing talent with tight and unique storytelling. Seems like it took the pressure off of him and the film was so natural. If he can tackle Pynchon, he can do anything.

A film about early broadcast television sounds interesting.
Read somewhere that Will Ferrel would be starring.
Would like to see that happen
Luckily for us, anything he touches turns to gold!

After "There Will Be Blood" he talked about wanting to do a horror film. I would like to see what he would do. I would like to see him try his hand at a gangster film honestly (I found the gangster characters in Vice to be interesting). I would like to see him do something 90-100 minutes long.

I don't know about him adapting more Pynchon but I do recall him saying he wanted to do an Airplane! styled comedy and an early TV access film.

He has talked of adapting more Pynchon (Mason & Dixon I think), making a film about early broadcast television, and an Airplane-like comedy. The latter two will probably be rolled into one, if ever made, and would take serious balls, because we live in a pretty serious, political time and people don't like comedies as much as they used to. He might not be allowed to take that chance after two flops in a row. That said, I think he's due a mainstream hit and another ensemble comedy-drama, more tightly focused and driven, with his expanded horizons and experience, might be the way to go.
