Anyone got any info on the new Biopic of Roscoe that's being made? http://www.imdb.com/board/10944837/ Apparently Jim Gaffigan is taking the role of Roscoe. Don't know anything about this chap. Is he a good choice? All I can say at the moment is that I hope it portrays the great man truthfully. And that it might bring his work back into the public eye.

I'm wondering if this guy's going to die too. John Belushi was offered the role of Fatty back in the early 80s, and then he died, Sam Kinison I think his name is, that AHHHHH AHHHHHH AHHHHHH teacher from Back to School, also go the role, then he was hit by a drunk driver. Then John Candy was offered the role, and he had a heart attack. I don't know but it seems like there may be a curse on the role.
You're thinking about the "Atuk" script curse; the script was based on a 1961 novel about an Eskimo in New York City. According to urban legend, the script was read by Belushi, Kinison, Candy, and Chris Farley, who all died suddenly, "soon" after reading it. Kinison supposedly came closest to getting the movie filmed. Also, friends of two of the actors, Michael O'Donahue (Belushi) and Phil Hartman (Farley) died suddenly after looking at the script in their friends' presence.
Yeah, they're dead; they'reall messed up!

looks like Eric Stonestreet is going to be playing Fatty Arbuckle.
if they can get David Tennant for Charlie Chaplin, Kristen Wiig for Mabel Normand, John Slattery for Mack Sennett, and Ellen Page for Mary Pickford, that would also be perfect casting.

If they were to do this (from what I'm reading, this project is canceled), but I believe that he would be such a great candidate for this part, especially since they sort of favor one another. But he would be amazing as a performer if the opportunity were given.
No one. Various filmmakers have planned to do one through the years, first in the 1960's with Jackie Coogan, but all projects have ultimately been cancelled, including this one.

I think you're right. A movie will never be made on a celebrity that doesn't have some kind of scandal, controversy, or tragedy to tell.

Agreed, but it seems to me that the scandal will feature heavily. Without the scandal I don't think they would bother making the film (more fool them). Just possibly it may help Roscoe's reputation as there are still, ridiculous as it may seem, people out there who still think him guilty. These are obviously people who know nothing about what happened and it may go somewhat to redressing the balance to the ignorant masses. If it's handled well of course.
I see that Preston Lacy is now playing Roscoe, from what pictures I've seen he does have a look that's not entirely unlike him. Hope he can act!

Also, I do hope the film discusses Arbuckle's career in detail; the worst thing they can do is to skip through his movie career with a few scenes and let 2/3 of the movie cover the scandal. That will do no good to Arbuckle's reputation, although it must be made clear that he was innocent, of course.
