<p dir="auto">Is it just me or did it look in the movies like Fatty's eyes were glassy? I  mean they seemed really pale, like almost empty.</p>

<p dir="auto">I believe he was blond haired and blue eyed. It didn't always translate well to early film.<br />
Yeah, the film stock didn't pick up color accurately, it was shifted toward red (I think), so the actors had to wear makeup that looked almost like clown makeup to make their faces read natural in the final film image.<br />
Pills are good!  PILLS ARE GOOD!</p>

<p dir="auto">Pale blue eyes (I'm guessing) did not translate well on grainy, almost over-exposed looking black and white film.
