I recall hearing that John Belushi was offered this part, said yes, then OD'd. Then, Sam Kinison was supposed to play him, then he died soon after. Then it was Chris Farley, and he died shortly thereafter too.
Am I thinking of the right story?

It was actually a film about an eskimo, funny fat comedians were a reading for the part, and all died shortly after. However the connection to Fatty is that both John Candy, and Chris Farley concidered Fatty their dream role. I would love to see an Arbuckle movie, one that doesn't fail to mention that he had little to do with Virginia Rappe's death, just wrong place at the wrong time..
