Do you have some examples, quotes or links of directors claiming their love (or hate) for Argento's works?
Examples:
John Carpenter:
He is a HUGE fan of Dario Argento, he loves SUSPIRIA, INFERNO, PHENOMENA, OPERA, DEEP RED.
He once said in 1999 that SUSPIRIA was the "best horror movie ever made", that INFERNO was a "kind of cool drug you can enjoy everytime you use it", that PHENOMENA was a 'very disturbing, difficult movie that he would never show to his children", that PHANTOM OF THE OPERA had "beautiful lightning, visuals and costumes".
Stuart Gordon said in 2005 that THE STENDHAL SYNDROME was Argento's best and most creepy movie and that PHANTOM OF THE OPERA was Argento's worst.
French director Nicolas Boukhrief likes Argento's movies, he even defended Argento's late movies like THE CARD PLAYER, SLEEPLESS, MOTHER OF TEARS, THE STENDHAL SYNDROME, GIALLO, PHANTOM OF THE OPERAsaying overall that there were some rushed sloppy stuff in Argento's last works but also some very good stuff, many virtues, often unfairly maligned by critics .
Another french director, Pascal Laugier, loves Argento up to and including TENEBREand bashes mostly all his works after TENEBRE!
Some others examples??

John Landis cast Argento in a cameo in 'Innocent Blood', so I'd say that's a good indication that he's a fan. Quentin Tarantino molds things in his films after Argento movies, but he does that with the work of EVERY directer. Still, I think he's a genuine fan as well.

There is a interview with Guillermo Del Toro where he talks about Arento. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LOHWFMyTPKA
