After watching "Bikini Beach" with Frankie playing a dual role in this film as a british singing sensation, i now know where Mike Myers got the idea for his "randy" Austin Powers" character
God, the red hair, the gap teeth, eyeglasses, cute 60's outfits and that wonderful accent made Frankie Avalon kinda ZEXY !
Just watch the movie when you can and see what i mean!
Mike Myers owes Frankie a spot in his next Austin Powers film!

I too noticed the resemblance between Austin Powers and The Potato Bug. But that always happens in show biz. Old ideas are recycled and reused.
