Seriously.
No spouse is listed here on IMDB.
And talks about Natalie Wood's animosity toward him during the filming of "West Side Story" - can't help but wonder if she knew.
People wonder why Richard didn't become a bigger star. Well maybe Richard was given the "star" parts he is known for simply because gay directors - like Jerome Robbins - had the hots for him.
Richard bears more than a passing resemblance to both Warren Beatty and Jeffrey Hunter.
"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac' HONEY!"

Just because he didn't get married doesn't mean he is gay I mean he dated Sharon Tate in the early 60's but that ended and maybe he just didn't find the right person for him after that

In the year of our Lord 2012 (or 2013 or 2014) this type of personal information should NOT be of interest to anyone.
Oh, get off your high horse. People are curious by nature and there's nothing offensive about wondering about someone's personal life whether the subject is famous or not. It is however offensive for people to presume non-married people are must be hiding a secret about their sexuality. Some people simply
choose
not to get married for a variety of reasons none of which have to do with some secret. Just because marriage and babies are considered the "norm" does not mean everyone gives into to that so called ideal.
If you want to make a leap based on some kind of bullsh*t statistic, I can do the same to prove anything too. Since half of all marriages end in divorce, I'm just going to assume that all married people who end up divorced are adulterers or are physically abusive to their spouse. After all, why else would a marriage end? Surely people wouldn't go into an institution as serious as marriage lightly and surely they wouldn't end said institution over something frivolous like "my spouse got fat" or "I got bored and wanted to bang other people". Thickness and think and sickness and health and all that.

What EARTHLY difference does it make?
One suspects this kind of question is being asked by a 13 year-old.
In the year of our Lord 2012 (or 2013 or 2014) this type of personal information should NOT be of interest to anyone.
He is a very talented man and delightful performer, who has given us years of pleasure watching his work; that is all we need to know.

But seriously, why assume someone is gay just because they never married?
Statistically, most heterosexual men marry, while presumably most homosexual men do not (that might change) and therefore, the percentage of unmarried men who are homosexuals would be far higher than the percentage of homosexuals among the general male population.
It should be against the law to use "LOL" unless you really did LOL!

I read his autobiography and he doesn't even talk about his sex life at all so who knows? You're rightWood loved gay men. The reason she was kind of cool to Beymer is just that she just didn't want him in the movie. According to Beymer she was always professional on the set and polite to himbut she was never friendly or nice.

Natalie Wood loved gay people. Her best friend was Mart Crowley and she helped him get his opus, "The Boys in the Band" made. After seeing that Richard Beymer never married and retired back to Iowa to write and sculpt, I wondered if he might be gay as well. I suppose if he is, he would have referenced it in his autobiography? Anyone read it?
At least there will be plenty implied.

I seriously doubt even if it is true about him being gay, I feel certain in saying that would not make Natalie Wood have "animosity" towards him over being gay. Why? I am certain in the profession she was in (an well as him) she probably knew and was friends with many gay men (and women). If she didn't like him, it is quite possible it had nothing to do with that, not all people like each other, gay or straight.
