What is everyone's favourite of his films. I've seen 5 of them:
West Side Story
The Longest Day
Indescretion of an american wife
The Diary of Anne Frank
My Girl 2. Hee hee. I actually sat through hours of boredem just to see his 5 minute clip.
My favourite is West Side Story. I think it is the best film ever made and it has been my favourite ever since I was 3. The dancing, the songs, the acting, it's all brilliant. And Richard wasn't bad in it, whatever people say.
The Diary of Anne Frank is second on my list. It was beautifully done and Richard was very good as Peter. It was a bit long and Millie Perkins' acting was not the best 2000to say the least. But Anne Frank and Richard Beymer, two of my favourite things, put them together and I'm bound to love it.
The Longest Day is also quite long, but again, the story is good and Richard Beymer was cute. I didn't like his haircut though.
Indescretion of an American Wife is worth a look if you want to see what he looked like as a boy. I bought this film at the weekend and he was soooo cute!!! I couldn't get over it. I screamed when it was his first scene.
My Girl 2. Well, what can I say. Seeing as I hadn't seen My Girl I didn't really know what was going on. But as I said before it was very boring and RICHARD WAS OLD! Not great.
I really want to see the films he made in his 20s. I think he was one of the best looking actors of his time and very underated. His acting was amazing in West Side Story.

He was best and most likeable in lighter fare. I actually like him with Tuesday Weld in "Bachelor Flat" 1962. They also did "High Time" together in 1960 and seemed to have a good on-screen chemistry and also dated for a time in real life.
But, I would recommend getting "Bachelor Flat" from 1962. You should be able to find it on YouTube or on DVD.

He is so underrated.
I really cannot decide: West Side Story or The Diary of Anne Frankboth are so different and yet so lovely, and they are both in my top 50 or sowhich takes a great deal.

I agree.
Very underappreciated.

I've missed all five of those films, but Richard Beymer is one terrific actor in everything he does!
He deserves a lot more appreciation than he gets for his many fine roles, in which he is great at portraying.
That would be nice if they would play Richard Beymer films more than they do, but that just goes to show how underappreciated he really is, and deserves recognition as you and the others give him. So that's a very good thing to do!

I searched My Girl 2 on Youtube and skipped all the parts till I found his little role. But I must say, especially after seeing the DVD WSS features, for an old man he has aged pretty well.
I first developed my Beymer crush when I was six years old and my mother showed me West Side Story. This was also the time when my mother introduced me to Gordon MacRae
Then as I got older I wanted to see more of his stuff. I searched far and wide and bought The Diary of Anne Frank which is now my second favourite film of his.
I then found Johnny Tremain on YouTube and it was great to see him as a younger actor. However, I am1354 currently in a dry spot and I cant find any clips of 'Hemmingway's Adventures of a Young Man' or 'Indiscretion of an American Wife'. I am yet to watch 'The Longest Day'.
I am also a big, big fan of his character Benjamin Horne in TWIN PEAKS. I love him in that role. He was so deliciously evil
West Side Story remains my favourite though.
