I've111c been a lifelong fan and was always under the impression that she
was/is one of the very few kind/sincere/humble people in the business.
But for the first time the other day, someone (whom I trust, in the biz),
stated that she is actually "hard to work for." I found this
shocking and disappointing. But perhaps I'm not being fair, as she is
a brilliant talent and aren't brilliant people complicated? Has
anyone here heard this or worked for her? Hearing this was kind of like
finding out there's no Santa Claus as she's always seemed so warm
and genuine.

What's this about? Where/when/why did Tim Conway "brush past" Carol Burnett?

'I'm not saying they were on bad terms, but that she probably had this very distant, "cold", professional relationship with everyone'
why probably with everyone? Based on the Conway observationwhere he brushed past her?

"Judging from her skits on CBS???" Uh, I would say there's NO way to
judge a performer based on their TV show. And, for me, her shows were
incredibly warm - her interactions with TV audience members at the
beginnings come to mind.
As for the "dark" element, Burnett is to TV what Chaplin is to film.
She is an actor doing comedy, not a stand-up comic trying to act (which
is all we're flooded with today). There was great pathos in the "Family"
sketches. One would never see this kind of layering on SNL. Ever.
So far, my question hasn't been answered. Maybe somebody will respond
who has worked for her or met her.
