Awww, RED, the most wonderful, generous, loving, underrated, over funny, lovely, loyal, man I've ever met. I5b4 have a hole in my heart the size of Texas.
As a dramatic actor, you were tops (see THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON'T THEY?); as a comedianwell? HO-HO-HO! And though you gave a lotta laughs with you're "Never got a dinner" jokes, we both know you had many tributes and dinners and they were all well deserved.
Of all my memories the best was Romanoff's on Oscar Night 1958. You came in glowing with Mike. I remember my Al congratulating you. "Must be great winning an Oscar, eh, Red?" he said. "Are you kiding?" Red hollerd over the noise of the crowd, "I'm just glad I got to grab Lana Turner's ass!"
You are irreplaceable!!!

Great post, Barrie. I agree. Red always said he loved the fact that every time he was introduced, it was "And now, here is OSCAR WINNER Red Buttons."
When I saw this mornings headline "OSCAR WINNER RED BUTTONS DIES" I knew that wherever Red is, he's smiling proudly!
