He was at the Steel City Con July 28th and July 29th. I went the 28th. He was the original reason why I wanted to go, but when I first knew about the Con, I wasnt sure if I was going or not. Something was telling me he was really nice, maybe because he has that face. I was really nervous about meeting him. Eventually I worked my way over to him. He greeted me with a firm handshake (I see why he's the man of steel). My guess was right. He really is super nice. We had a good conversation, too. However, I didnt want to pay $40 for an autograph, I didnt have really have that much. Dean is very down-to-Earth, too.

Then how do you explain people like Jeremy Renner and Chris Evans going to the SLC Comic Con? They are relevant and very much sought after right now.

How the mighty have fallen!
Once he was making so much money from playing Superman that money was flowing in! Now he's charging fans money for his autograph, it proves he's no longer an A-lister or even B- lister either.

if it was just an autograph I agree that charging $40 or anything is awfulbut if it was autographed professional pic and trimmings, then that is a different kind of situation and matter..
good chance that apart from the photographers cut, the money was going to charity anyway..

I'd be afraid to do that, like if the actors perhaps would think Im a stalker and ignore the letter. There are so many actors Id love to have conversation with. But hey, power to ya for having feedback.

That's neat that you got to meet Dean Cain, and this might be different but a few years ago my Mom gave me a book for my birthday a few summers ago and it lists actors, actress, writers, producers, baseball, basketball, football, hockey players ect, inculding politicans, and other famous people, so I went through the whole booke and put a check next to the people who respond to fan mail, so then I sent out letters requesting autographs and I got two back last summer one from Marion Ross (from Happy Days, Gilmore Girls, Sponge Bob) and then I also got one from Jean Stapleton from All In The Family. And I ssent a few other letters to famous people who respond to fan mail but I forget off hand but I though it was nice that Ma1c84rion Ross and Jean Stapleton took the time to sign an autograph for me.

Monet, it'd be ridiculous if a celebrity charged you if you met them in public. But I doubt any of them would be that shallow. Im sure they'd feel obliged. At any rate, the conventioned charged more for everything the time he was there rather than the time before that. If I had way more money, I would've bought his autograph. I did feel bad because I stoob68d there chatting with him for a bit, and didnt buy one.

The point is.buying autographs is what the Hollywood Show or any official autograph celebrity event is about You get an opportunity to have your picture taken with your favorite celebrity and obtain a personalized autograph picture with their signature. You get to meet and chat with them. It's the whole package - a once in a lifetime experience. And, yes, the whole experience can cost you anywhere from $20 and up. I saw fans at the autograph show shelling out lots of money for 10 pictures at at time. Nobody was forcing them. They could afford it and they paid for it. They got what they wanted for a price. If the celebrity is someone I want to meet, I'll pay for the autograph picture. That's just me and many other fans.
However, if you happen to meet a celebrity at a store (for example), I highly doubt that the celebrity would ask you for $40 bucks for their autograph.

Dont get me wron5b4g monet, I understand why u did it.
But from a personal point of view I dont think it is morally right for a star to charge for an autograph. These guys should be happy someone is a fan of theirs and wants their autograph.
Its not really the same as an Ebay seller is it. If I was famous and someone asked me for an autograph I wouldnt say, ok thats fine but $40 please. I guess like you say. To each to their own

Ebay sellers charge much more for a questionable autograph and people pay them so why not pay the star directly for their authentic autograph? I'd pay that amount and more to have an autograph of a star I really like. I met Dean Cain too and he was very kind and friendly to his fans. It was worth my $40 not only for the autograph but to chat with him for a few minutes. Many fans were happy to do so.
Why should anyone charge $40 for an autograph?
Because fans are willing to pay and because in my opinion, they are worth it. Don't pay if you don't want to. To each his/her own.
