It's a Wonderful Life (1946) 8/10 - perfect, for what it is.
Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) 7/10 - a lot to enjoy, but somehow missed the mark for me.
Meet John Doe (1941) 6/10 - dubious politics. Felt a bit patronising, even fascist in tone.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) 8/10 - perfect for what it is, prefer it to IAWL
You Can't Take It with You (1938) 7/10 - muddled, but very enjoyable in parts.
Lost Horizon (1937) 8/10 - great adventure, fun, amazing achievement.
It Happened One Night (1934) 8/10 - respect it more than love it.
The Bitter Tea of General Yen (1933) 9/10 Love it. Seen many times.
Forbidden (1932) 8/10 - good film, bleak, but thought provoking.
The Miracle Woman (1931) 7/10 - good film, but for me not very memorable.
Submarine (1928) 8/10 - very entertaining, great sub rescue scene.
'Where was this murder committed?' - 'San Francisco. Last night.' - 'Who was murdered?' - 'I was.'
