I remember a TV playhouse presentation with the theme of the Alcatraz escape. I thought it "Escape to Nowhere", but it looks like my memory is faulty. I thought the actor was famous, but it might not have been Cassevetes, Gazzara, or Landau. The "screenplay" was very similar to the Clint Eastwood film, but it could be that it was just based on actual events. I have not been able to find this television presentation anywhere. I recall it as CBS Playhouse 90, but it could have been one of the others. Ring any bells with anyone?

Roy Scheider. Just got done watching "Rosemary's Baby". The more I looked at his chin, the more I started thinking of Roy Scheider, and I was soon referring to John as "Chief Brody".

I've always thought Anthony Bourdain (of Travel Channel's No Reservations) looks like a cross between Humphrey Bogart and John Cassavetes, IMHO.

Actually, there's this one guy from Argentina called Leonardo Sbaraglia. He's a fine actor. Check him out in 'King of the Hill'. In that one he really looked like Cassavetes reincarnated.

ha ha ha! yes, it's so funny because when i watch tv with my boyfriend we have a running joke because I swear to god that i spot martin landauso he always says, "It's Martin Landau" I think John's got sex appeal though.

I think the person who looks so much like him is Rob Leibman. The actor who played on Norma Rae. I thought he was him at first. That's how much they look alike. Even talk alike too.

i haven't seen too many movies with nick mancuso, but i did see 'lies before kisses'. it's a movie that also stars ben gazzara. it was like watching john and benny on the screen.

Well for those familiar with Australian Music and musicians, I have always thought that Stephen Cummings (The Sports) is the spitting image 16d0of John Cassavetes.

I've always thought so. I remember watching the very first episode of "Mission Impossible" (TV 1966) and thinking for a moment that Landau was Cassavetes.

Facially he looks like Landau, but Landau is about 8 inches taller than John was.

I think Cassavettes looked like a young Humphrey Bogart & was also similar looking to Chico Marx. But I don't think he looked like Landau at all.
