I find Mia Farrow's performance very appealing in a lot of ways, but in looks and voice, Lois Chiles was much closer to Fitzgerald's description of Daisy Buchanan. She got a lot of unfair criticism for a very good performance that probably was cut to shreds in the editing room in "The Great Gatsby." (Its original 3 hour version was apparently much superior, but Paramount insisted on a shorter cut that would allow more screenings per day.)

Agreed!! Never understood WHY Mia Farrow was SO enticing? I couldn't see it?

So, so, SO agree with you, WonderWoman2010. Just watched this with my wife last night and we both couldn't help but wonder why Gatsby was so hung up on that insipid twit Daisy Buchanan when he had Chiles' Jordan right there for the taking, if he wanted her. Redford, in his prime, never seemed to get matched up with any female leads who were anywhere near as attractive as he was.
