My criteria for choosing was that they had to have made at lease three amazing films. Even if they made loads of crap outside of those three.

11. Denis Villeneuve : Upcoming maybe but considering your taste in movies I highly recommend you to check his work.

Not sure how you could look at names like Lars Von Trier and Kar Wai Wong without realizing they're not American.
Also, the best living screenwriter is Charlie Kaufman :^)
