thats what the coens really do. so there's going to be violence and depression in their films. but there would also be:

1. shiny and squeaky clean sets (every single film of theirs whether its the bowling place in THE BIG LEBOWSKI or the cafe and toilet in INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS)
2. lots of gluttony (FARGO and THE BIG LEBOWSKI)
3. there is going to be some alcoholism (white russian in THE BIG LEBOWSKI and scenes in bars in other films)
4. shots of beautiful american highways and suburbs (highways in FARGO and INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, suburbs in SERIOUS MAN).
5. remarkable actors (nearly every bit player in a coen brothers makes an impact on you. they are all very entertaining).
   yes, its all dark. but its a feel good dark. i mean, these guys arent making WEEKEND by goddard or THE PASSION OF ANA by bergman. its all entertaining and beautiful darkness. i love it.
