The Bond franchise is made for men and should not include dusty old crones like Judi Dench in key non-sexual roles.

Agreed, she is. What I especially love about her in particular is how she was able to make M into an actual person and not quite a one dimensional character that M's been in previous films.

She was the best M in my opinion, like Desmond Llewelyn is the definitive Q, Judi Dench has become the definitive M.

LetsBeSerious I'm pretty sure that is a valid use of "Irony." The kid is claiming she is a "distinguishing old troll" yet represents one him/herself. Personally I find her interesting and respectable enough to not be deserving of such a vulgar description.

She is just amazing. She has the whole range of emotions and can adapt to different scenes. Watching her chew out Bond for breaking into her flat in Casino Royale was hilarious. "one more syllable and I'll have you killed" to her dealing with British Govt ministers in QoS.
Judi owns that role hopefully for a few more Bond movies.

The rumors are correct. M's character will die in Skyfall. Sam Mendes already filmed her death scene.

i don't mind so much as long as they let her go out with a big bang.
from all reports, dench is given quite a lot to do in the new film. there are a great many rumours that sound like this could be a
very
promising project for her. she's been pretty near award worthy in the last two films (she simply shone in "quantum of solace" and had the film been better received i think there'd have been more acclaim), so i'm eagerly anticipating seeing her in this.
