I do believe that RuPaul clearly came out in his AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Although I suppose he might have claimed being straight along time ago or he was joking.

It is NOT a stupid question. Just because he plays gay characters doesn't magically make him gay. I saw RuPaul in an interview claim to be straight.

I don't know what's scarier, the fact that some people can't tell that Harvey Firestein is gb68ay or the fact that these same people are driving on the road.

Not only is he a rather flamboyant and out gay male, on top of being a good actor, he is an amazingly articulate, and passionate activist for LGBT and human rights.
Despite being an out lesbian and having plenty of eye-candy that I would love to meet just to drool over, I'd rather have an evening with Harvey Fierstein, and be able to pick his brain, learn of his life experiences, and glean some wisdom from.

He was a much loved man, a succesfull man, he found amazing love, adopted a gorgeous son .. he lead a full life which continues with joy after the final scene
your statement "You would HAVE to be born that way to put up with a life like that." is incredibly miopic and indeed offensive
so a person should not be gay in case they kill you or those you love?
That a mother has a hard time accepting him is a reason not to be gay?
That it can be hard to be lucky at love is a reason not to be gay?
The sexuality of the main character(s) is irrelevant in the slice of life story of Arnold and the loves of his life the story would be as poignant if the main characters sexuality were changed, but the strength expressed by our gay lead is the one of the most uplifting truths and I am so thankfull that Harvey wrote and perfomed this wonderful story for us to share
watch it again, and feel the joy and the love that fills this movie even if you have a kleenex in your hand to soak up the innevitable tears (some of them of Joy)

I thought Torch Song Trilogy was sad and depressing as hell. It made me wonder why ANYONE would want to be gay and have to live a life like that. Although I laughed my butt off when he was called down to the school and he went in his robe and bunny slippers, the whole tone of the movie was painfully sad. Why anyone would want to be gay is beyond me. But I think this proved to me that people don't choose to be gay. You would HAVE to be born that way to put up with a life like that. It was so incredibly sad

This couldn't have been a serious question. When I was 8 years old I was thinking "oh so thats a gay man" you have to be blind not to see that he's gay. I love him, he is awesome and Torch Song Trilogy kicks ass.

The guy is a well-known out-of-the-closet activist/artist/entertainer. If any of you 12-year-olds asking the question had seen him in anything other than Mrs. Doubtfire, you'd know that. He is definitely gay and definitely talented. He narrated the Harvey Milk documentary, which is one of the best films of its type I've ever seen.
