Using an aggragate of critical opinion for consumer guidance purposes instead of choosing to rely on the whimsy of one lone individual makes FAR more sense most of the time.
The only exceptions to this rule being cases where the solitary individual is so unbelievably fired up and passionate about his subject that you just know, waayyy deep down in the pit of your soul without a scintilla of a doubt that what he is saying simply MUST be the truth.
We've all heard the expression, "In cholora, veritas" (in excitement, truth)?
Well, that was the case here.
But I can't believe how wrong this guy was. My theory? If we are to believe in the accuracy of In cholora veritas, then obviously there's a better version of this movie out there like a TV movie from the mid 1970s or something and maybe THAT was the version he was referring to.

While I respect your right to choose your rentals however you wish, it's tough to believe you would select a movie because of just one message board post. Especially when the poster was clearly being sarcastic.
I urge you to PLEASE to do yourself a favour and take a more rounded approach to selecting your rentals in the future.

While I respect your right to an opinion, eggbert, it is tough to get behind your belief that SOUND OF THUNDER is so goshdarned wonderful. Based primarily on your enthusiasm ("greatest single film ever made", etc) my wife and I rented this movie today and were profoundly disappointed by it. The story did have potential (it was based, I believe, on a novel by Jules Verne) but the execution particularly the script, direction, cinematography, music, acting and special effects were unbelievably bad.
Now, of course these things are subjective, and if you prefer to think of SOUND OF THUNDER as "the single greatest film ever made" that is entirely your perogative.
But with that in mind, eggbert, I urge you to PLEASE do yourself a favor and watch THE GREAT ESCAPE, CASABLANCA, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK and BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID some time very soon, because I think you're going to love them!

Successful or not, but all of his films (with the exception of The Musketeer) are well shot (by Hyams himself) and coherently edited so you understand spatial geography in his action scenes, which directors with even bigger budgets can't always do. You can't deny that.
