Also, only recently I found out he passed away.
How cool was Brion James in "Southern Comfort"?! Fifth Element? Blade Runner! Versatile actor, great villain roles, fantastic comic relief, allround solid performances outgunning major stars in the same frame.
Peace Brion..

I agree. Brion James was a terrific actor. I thought he was great as the Cajun fur trapper in "Southern Comfort." He was likewise superb in "Blade Runner," "48 Hours," "Enemy Mine," "Flesh + Blood," "Crimewave," "Red Heat," and "The Horror Show." His early death from a sudden heart attack was a terrible shock and a great loss to all us Brion James fans.

Brion James was what I would call a "hard-working actor." Once he finishes one thing, he goes for another just as quick. His 24 years in acting, over 100 television shows he guest starred and starred in 120-plus films, and you can tell and see he has never played the same character twice. He was the most consistent actor, but I think his constant workload caused the heart attack that killed him. In my mind, there's no one that can show that dedication and passion as he did.
Rest In Peace Brion

too true Nickjo. It seemed like he just couldn't break into the "mainstream". He'd show up in big movies every so often( Bladerunner, The Fifth Element ) but never seemed to hit the big time.

Actually he was in Robert Altman's The PlayerI was really surprised when I saw him show up in that movie in 1992.
And if you've seen Southern Comfort, you should remember Fred Ward in that movie. Ward appeared in The Player too and had an amusing dialogue with Brion James about the classic "D.O.A." And I believe Brion appeared in the 1988 remake of "D.O.A.".

It might be risky, but it would have been interesting to see Brion James and Danny Trejo given reluctant protanganist lead roles against more well known Hollywood leads as the antagonists.

Towards the end of his career, he started getting roles left and right from young directors who had noticed him in movies growing up. But none of them made it big.
I agree, I can totally see him in a Tarantino or Rodriguez film. If I were a movie villain, the first guys I'd send out to try and kill the hero would be Danny Trejo and Brion James.
Armageddon! You look like a hemorrhoid with eyebrows!

He was really good, and what's surprising to me is that he didn't get any roles with the "hip indy" crowd. You'd think he'd be valuable to Tarantino or Rodriguez.
